History
The Clarence River Jockey Club at Grafton was founded in the same year that the first Melbourne Cup was held and only one year after the AJC opened its racecourse at Randwick.
It grew to become one of Australia’s most important country race clubs and the host of one of the major annual race carnivals outside the metropolitan areas.
Copies of the full history of the CRJC published in a book titled “Big River Racing – A History of the Clarence River Jockey Club 1861-2001” are still available. Books may now be purchased at the CRJC Office at a price of $10.00 The book is hard cover with a full colour cover and features photos dating back to the Club’s beginnings.
If you require the book to be posted, a postage and handling fee of $6.50 will apply per book. If you haven’t already done so, all members should avail themselves of the opportunity to learn the history of your Club in this great 276 page book.
