As we move towards the July Racing Carnival it is the appropriate time to review the form of the Grafton Trainers at recent meetings.
Firstly the pick up meeting in May and Grafton trainer and jockey combination of Wayne Lawson and Jodi Worley were giving their best Boston legal impersonations in the stewards room to get a protest decision in the Maiden 1115m.
Lawson’s runner Not So Dubious had been beaten in the closest of photos by the Sam McGuren trained Egyptian Lass. The photo was so close that many on the track were sure that Not So Dubious would get the judges nod.
Once numbers were in the frame Lawson was quick to announce that they would be lodging an objection for interference in the run to the finish.
The two horses had virtually raced together throughout the event including all the way down the straight. Whilst the interference was at the lower end the two horses had undoubtedly raced tight and given the very narrow margin in the end the stewards amended the result giving victory to Not So Dubious.
