As we headed into the races on Monday it is time to finalise this weeks review of how the trainers in Grafton are progressing.
Today it is team McGuren that is under review and it is fair to say Sam has pretty much been all over the place in search of that elusive winner.
First winner for the season came courtesy of the speedy Mawsons Expedition when he led throughout to score an effortless victory at Taree in mid August in a Class 1 1007m.
Ridden by Matt McGuren Mawsons Expedition Crossed for fun and it was pretty much race over after 400m when the gelding had been left to his own devices in front. In the end he went on to win by 2 lengths.
The next winner was at Newcastle in late August when Siena Grima guided stable newcomer Wild Chap to victory in the BM 64 1500m.
Given the run of the race one out one back Grima found her way to the better part of the track and Wild Chap fought on strongly over the concluding stages to score a very solid win.
The most recent winner was at Lismore last week when Patrioticintention led throughout to score a very impressive win in the Maiden 1320m.
Ridden by Luke Rolls Patrioticintention had to overcome a tricky draw but was in control by the the 1000m. Rolls then steadied the ship before giving a big kick near the 300m with the gelding racing away to win with plenty of authority.
