Team Henley have never been afraid to head across the border in search of a winner and last Saturday was no exception.
Whilst most Grafton trainers had runners at the local meeting Fleur Henley headed to the Poly at the Gold Coast with a couple of starters.
Whilst Fleur had little joy in the race seven the final event of the day proved to be very different.
Five Rings which has been with the stable for some time and has had a solid preparation this time in winning earlier at Port Macquarie.
On Saturday Five Rings was engaged in the final event of the day the BM 65 1540m.
The gelding was one of the despised outsiders in the twelve horse field but with an absolute gem of a ride by Karl Zechner who game from eleventh the fence on the point of the home turn to weave his magic between runners get the outside and blow the opposition off the park.
It was the first try on the Poly for Five Rings but judging by the way it hit the line another trip over the border may well be in the cards in the near future.
