It was only a six race card at Grafton last Thursday but it proved the perfect opportunity for Grafton trainers to get away with a third of the program.
The first winner for Grafton was provided courtesy of the Chris Manson yard when the ever consistent Rich Star broke through to win the Maiden 1006m.
Rich Star had raced on four separate occasions since joining the stable for three placings and a fourth all those starts have been at Grafton over the short course.
Ridden by Danny Peisley Rich Star sat in the stalking position third the fence before Peisley worked the gelding into the clear near the 250m. Once in space Rich Star exploded away from the opposition to score a very impressive victory.
The other Grafton winner came in the final event of the day the BM 58 1410m when Spills was able to score his sixth career victory and his second since joining the Lawson stable.
From the inside gate Spills won the start easily to land a length in front and from that point of the race Rolls was able to take full control of the tempo.
Once the 600m had been reached Rolls steadily increased the speed before going for home early in the straight and it was allover because chase as they may Spills had already established a winning break ang give his large selection of mainly Grafton based owners something to cheer about.
