As reported earlier this month Andy Parramore loves a trip across the border and with good reason because his strike rate in the Sunshine State is formidable.
Last Saturday Andy made the trip to the Gold Coast which was the Queensland metro meeting for the day with his highly promising Weownachevy.
Fresh from a maiden victory at at Ipswich some ten days earlier Weownachevy was taking on a huge class rise to an Open 3yo race a jump that many thought may be a touch too ambitious.
However in the end it was a stroke of genius with the bulk of the field made up of recent maiden winners.
Ridden by Andrew Mallyon Weownachevy settled well back in the field in the 1400m event with Mallyon forced to get on his bike well before the home turn.
Weownachevy still had plenty of work to do not reaching the front until the shadows of the post to win narrowly.
The rumor is that Weownachevy will now be sent for a spell and judging by the strength of his last two wins he could come back a better than average performer.
