Old Team Combines

Unfortunately we have been experiencing some issues getting news stories up on our facebook page so over the next few days hopefully I can catch up with some stories on how Grafton trainers have been faring in the winner getter stakes.
Lismore in early February proved to be a good day for the old team of Greg Howells and Stephen Traecey when they combined with Real Gent in the BM 58 1310m.
Considered to be better suited over a longer trip Real Gent surprised plenty when he settled midfield the fence and was then stalking the leaders coming to the turn.
Even after striking interference on the home bend and coming via the cape which is a real no no at Lismore, Real Gent balanced up nicely and ran to the line strongly to win with something in reserve.
The win no doubt brought back memories for the team who combined to win eight races with the good mare O’ So Handy in the late 1990’s culminating in the 1998 Lismore Cup.
