Shelton Continues Run

With Grafton racing again on Tuesday it is time to catch up with all the news from the Jacaranda Cup meeting.
Whilst Murwillumbah based trainers stole the limelight winning five of the eight events Grafton based trainers were able to find their way to the winners circle on two occasions including the feature event the Jacaranda Cup.
The John Shelton yard has been in outstanding form and it continued when Bugalugs scored a solid win in the Jacaranda Cup 1100m.
Ridden by Ben Looker Bugalugs began well then slowly worked his way to the top to be in control passing the 600m. Looker then kicked on the home turn to establish a winning break and although getting a little weary on the line held too many guns for his rivals.
It was fifth win for Bugalugs since joining the Shelton stable.
The win on Bugalugs provided Looker with a winning double after having scored earlier in the day on the Cathy Chapman prepared Sweet William in the Maiden 1700m.
Sweet William however came from well back in the field to grab the lead right on the line in a very close finish.
The win by Sweet William came as no surprise even though it came at his twenty fourth start because Sweet William had been crying out to win a race with his first two runs this preparation both being full of merit.
Chapman like Shelton has been having a great season winning three races from her last eleven starters.
