Tears Of Joy

Whilst some of the locals were enjoying success at home one of the younger brigade of Grafton trainers headed to the big smoke on Saturday in search of riches.
Shannon Manwarring had already had his fair share of luck with the four year old mare Credit Controller that he purchased online in January when after less than eight weeks in the yard it won the thick end of the prizemoney in a Super Maiden at Grafton.
A short freshen saw the then filly return to win a BM 58 at Lismore.
Credit Controller then ran great races in feature events at both the Grafton and Coffs Harbour cup carnivals before a creditable third at Grafton in a 1400m BM 1600m.
Off this performance Credit Controller went to Brisbane to contest a Class 3 1600m. Amazingly the winner of the Grafton race in which Credit Controller was placed third Extra Matters also headed north to contest the same race and was a well supported $10 chance.
The price assessors however did not see so much in the Credit Controller form and she was marked at the massive quote of $101. What makes this price differential even more ridiculous is at Grafton they both started around the $4 quote.
The rest is history, Credit Controller came storming down the middle of the track to give Shannon his first metropolitan winner.
Understandably Shannon was very excited after the event…. some say he was crying….he says it was the heat.
If it was me I would have been crying because you can never have enough on a $101 winner and they are as we all know few and far between.
