Ladies Day at Inverell

Inverell Cup day turned into ladies day as far as the Grafton horses were concerned with the girls of Grafton putting on quite a show for the locals.

First to be celebrating was the Kevin King yard when the speedy mare VIVID IMAGE scored a career best win in the BM 58 1010m.

Ridden by regular rider Kasie Stanley VIVID IMAGE took every advantage of her inside gate to control proceedings from barrier rise. Not that the mare jumped straight to the lead but Stanley made sure she controlled the race by ensuring that she was never crossed by the speedy Mellore.

Once heads were turned for home Stanley pushed the go button and it was race over in a couple of strides with VIVID IMAGE quickly putting lengths on her rivals to race to the wire with an advantage of almost five lengths when the judge called a halt.

Winner number two for Grafton came just one race later when the Greg Kilner prepared mare SHE’S CHOOSIE added the time honoured Inverell Shorts 1010m to her ever increasing CV.

Ridden by Leah Kilner to some degree it was a case of deja vu with Kilner like Stanley just one race earlier totally controlling the race from the front.

SHE’S CHOOSIE found the lead with ease from gate number four and from that point Kilner ran the race at her own tempo.

On the turn Leah slipped the mare a little more rein and SHE’S CHOOSIE quickened nicely to have all her chasers quickly off the bit. When the line was reached the mare still held a good advantage to win by almost a length.

It was career win number eight form twenty six career starts with the only real surprise being the amazing odds on offer about the mare following the massive win by SHE’S CHOOSIE at her previous start at Kempsey.
