No Joke

The Jason Reilly camp continues on its winning way this season with Jason being successful at the most recent Ballina meeting with Just A Joke.
Ridden by the inform Queensland based rider Andrew Mallyon Just A Joke settled well back in the field in the BM 58 1590m event.
Amazingly he was all but last at the 200m mark before Mallyon pulled him to the centre of the track and Just A Joke stormed down the outside to get to lead in the shadows of the post and win with some authority.
It was the third race start for Just A Joke since joining the Reilly yard in November after being purchased from the Waterhouse Bolt training partnership via an online auction.
Just A joke had an interesting CV when with his previous trainers winning a Hawkesbury Maiden 1800m before heading south to pursue a career as a hurdler. Interestingly however after winning three hurdle trials up over 2400m his hurdle racing career was restricted to just one race start where he failed to finish at Ballarat in August 2019. He then returned to flat racing for two more wins in provincial Victoria last summer.
Whilst his skill as a hurdler might remain in question he certainly jumped out of the ground late at Ballina
