Shelton Shines

When you think about Grafton Racing it is almost impossible not to think about leading trainer John Shelton.
Like all Grafton based stables the Christmas break means long trips travelling to race meetings away from Grafton and the recent break was no different.
John’s first success was at Bowraville on December 28 when Brunel Kingdom after being given a peach of a ride by stable favourite Ben Looker scored a solid win in the BM 50 2200m.
The nest winners came by way of a double at the Taree meeting on January 9.
Again Ben Looker was the pilot when Another Spirit scored an easy victory in the BM58 1000m.
The other winner for the day Koondeeman was in the Class1 1300m. Luke Rolls was the winning rider and Shelton revealed after the race that Rolls had been very keen to ride the gelding without the use of the whip which he felt the horse had been resenting.
In the end it was good advice with Koondeeman getting the result right and proving the advice correct in what was a very busy finish.
