Winners Continue

As previously mentioned, preparing horses for racing for Grafton based trainers has been increasingly difficult with the continuing wet weather playing havoc with the training schedule.
This however has not stopped the continual winners coming from Grafton.
Greg Kilner headed to Ballina last Tuesday with Vocation in the BM58 1000m Ridden by Luke Rolls who took full advantage of his inside alley. Vocation powered along the fence to lead throughout to run his opposition off their legs.
It is the second win for Vocation since joining the Kilner yard and with a favourable draw in the future more wins could well be in store.
Sam McGuren was all set to head to Kempsey last Monday with a team of horses but then had to make the decision if she wanted to head another two hours down the track to Tuncurry when the meeting was transferred.
In the end the traveller in her took over and with pleasing results recording a winning double.
Consistent Maiden performer Mawsons Expedition showed his usual turn of speed to cross and lead in the Maiden 1000m before Nori Masuda gave him a mid-race breather and then gave a huge kick at the 200m and although getting weary on the line had a big enough break to win.
It was the first run for Mawsons Expedition for the stable who stuck with the usual rider Nori Masuda who elected to make the huge drive from Ballina to stick with the gelding who he has ridden for most of his career.
Team McGuren made it a very worthwhile day when they also won the final event of the day with Roman Rebel in the BM 58 1200m. Ridden by the inform Siena Grima Roman Rebel led throughout to score a very solid victory.
Roman Rebel has been with the McGuren stable for all his racing career. Coming to the stable with some barrier issues that now appear to have been overcome the gelding has won three of eight starts to date.
A non-travel day then saw team McGuren back in the winners circle with stable star Jewels Statement absolutely blitzing her opposition in the Class 2 1015m at Grafton on Sunday.
Ridden by husband Matt, Jewels Statement sat in second before gaining an inside run on the point of the home to dash along the inside and then ran away from her rivals over the final 100m to win by over two lengths.
If the plan comes together Jewels Statement may head to Sydney for a Highway start in the near future.
