At the two most recent Grafton race meetings you need to have plenty of patience if you wanted to cheer home a Grafton prepared winner.
On March 5th it was a long wait until the final event of the day when Wayne Lawson trained Spills continued on his winning way in the BM 58 1400m.
In fact Spills made it three wins from his last four starts when he led throughout in the event. In what proved to be a masterstroke from Lawson he elected to engage the 3kg claiming apprentice in Ballie Baker which in real terms meant that Spills actually dropped 1 kg on his previous winning weight in a similar event at the previous Grafton meeting.
The issue was never in doubt with Spills always in control at the front and although getting a little tired late held on to win well.
On Sunday It was the last race again and yet another Grafton trainer able to make it two wins on the bounce.
This time it was Chris Manson and Rich Star which was making the big jump from Maiden to Class1 was able to prevail.
Ridden By Danny Peisley Rich Star sat outside the leader in the run and although he made the home turn a little awkwardly gave a good kick below the 200m to hold on and win well.
It has been a good month for Manson who only has two going to the races at the moment so with Rich Star making it two in a row there has been plenty to celebrate.
