Shelton Is Flying

There is no doubt that Grafton’s number one stable John Shelton has been in white hot form since the start of the new season with winners coming everywhere and the last couple of weeks have been made even more interesting with three Maiden winners all looking to have well above average ability.

The run started at Ballina two weeks ago when there was a sneaky tip around for a first starter long shot called Super Slick im n the Maiden 1000m.

Well both the tip and name proved to 100% spot on when the filly under the guidance of Kyle Wilson-Taylor exploded out of the gates to race straight to the top and win with plenty in reserve.

Super Slick is raced by long term stable client Brian Paine and there is little doubt the filly will win more races into the future.

Shelton’s next trip was south last Friday to Taree where he produced Fudginit first up from a spell in another Maiden 1000m.

This time it was Ben Looker in the saddle but it could have been an action replay of Ballina with Fudginit coming out running and never being in danger of defeat leading all the way to run away and score a very impressive victory.

To continue the run of impressive Maiden winners it Grafton yesterday and this time another debutante in Tara Jasmine Luke Rolls on this occasion was the rider of choice and like its winning stablemates Tara Jasmine came out running to go straight to the top.

When attacked midreace however Rolls took the drag to be third the fence before popping into the open on the point of the turn and quickly hoist the race over flag as Tara Jasmine dashed away to win very well.

Problem time now for Shelton as he continues to find suitable races for his promising band of winners and also keep them apart.
