With Christmas done and dusted as always the case at this time of the year Grafton trainers were on the road in search of winners whilst Grafton Racing is in recess.
There is no doubt that Scott Henley has a very smart 3yo filly on his hands in the shape of Come On Glamour.
This filly resumed at Grafton in mid November soring a very impressive win in a 1100m maiden under the guidance of Ben Looker but then headed to Coff Harbour in early December where she was a touch disappointing when midfield in a 1000m class 1.
However at Ballina on Boxing Day Come On Glamour well and truly bounced back to her best in a 1000m BM 50 perfectly drawn to take advantage of her brilliant gate speed Brooke Stower won the start and it was pretty much race over from that point with Come On Glamour and Brooke dictating from the front and racing away to win with plenty in reserve.
Grafton’s other winner for the day was essentially the other end of the scale when the Sam McGuren prepared Cowgirl Lily came from last coming to the turn to score her fifth racetrack success in the BM 50 1415m.
Ridden by the in form Dylan Turner Cowgirl Lily jumped brilliantly before being dragged back to the rear of the field as the mare is at her nest when ridden in this manner.
Coming to the home turn Cowgirl Lily was in need of a run but Turner made a little ground and then switched back in to take advantage of the cutaway which proved to be the winning move.
The win by Cowgirl Lily has now taken her record to winning at least one race in each of her last four preparations.
