As is so often the case “Royal Bowra” as it as known provided Grafton with a couple of winners on the weekend and each of the winners provide a very different story line.
Bush Warrior which was successful in the BM 50 2200m. Bush Warrior is prepared by Grafton’s newest trainer in Daniel Stanley and scored a very easy win in the event under the guidance of Jodi Worley.
Allowed to settle just of the speed stalking leaders Worley let go rounding the home turn and Bush Warrior raced away to win with plenty in reserve.
It was the first winner for Jodi Worley for over two years after she had decided to take a long break away from race riding Bush Warrior was only her seventh ride back since making a return to the race riding in December.
With Bush Warrior heralding in a start of sorts for his connections Grafton’s other winner Endangered Species proved to be exactly the opposite with the end of careers being the order of the day in that camp.
Endangered Species was successful in the BM50 1370m and made it two on the bounce at the Bowraville track having won a similar event in November.
Ridden by Grady Spokes Endangered Species was a very similar steer stalking the leaders in the run using the home turn to work into the clear before holding on strongly to win.
Interestingly the decision had been made prior to the event that win lose or draw Endangered Species would be retired to try his skills at other equestrian pursuits. Plus his owner popular Grafton track work rider Jason Fogarty was retiring from riding work.
Jason will still be around the game electing to continue his position as a barrier attendant for NRRA clubs.
