Racing in Review – December 2019

With Boxing day racing fast approaching it is time to catch up on our most recent Grafton trained winners.

Greg and Leah Kilner were off to Kempsey with stable star SHE’S CHOOSIE to contest the Open 1000m last week.

SHE’S CHOOSIE has always had plenty of skill winning four of her first five starts all as a 2yo. The trouble then is how high the benchmark becomes and it is difficult to place 3yo fillies in country NSW at any time much less with a benchmark in the high sixties.

Greg did a sterling job winning a benchmark race at home and a Class race over the border at Aquis Park now back as a 4yo SHE’S CHOOSIE has to take on the best.

At Kempsey she proved she can play at that level after jumping well she held the front without any pressure in a quick run race before dashing right away on the home turn to absolutely bolt in.

The trick for team Kilner will be if they decide to make the trip to Inverell for the time honoured shorts on cup day. Judging by her Kempsey win the race is almost over if she makes the trip but with the highway closed it might make the trip just a touch too difficult. Nevertheless it will give Greg something to think about over Christmas Dinner.
