Another Grafton based trainer hoping to add a second local cup to his CV is Grafton’s newest trainer Daniel Stanley.
Daniel who made the decision to move his training business to Grafton a short while ago is heading to the Casino Cup meeting with a two pronged attack and is hoping he can replicate the success of the Tabulam Cup day earlier in the month where from two starters he produced a winning double.
Stanleys first winner came in the opening race of the day where Kirona Storm led throughout to score a very impressive win in the Maiden 1000m ridden by Wayne Wheatley. Kirona Storm had to work to find the lead but once in control raced away to win with some authority.
Come the Tabulam Cup 1400m and Stanley saddled up his old stager Bush Warrior with Stephen Cummins the pilot.
Bush Warrior raced outside the leader throughout the race and in what was a master stroke kept pressure on the leader throughout but also ensuring that the race favourite was caught three deep throughout the event.
In the end it was the heady ride that made the difference with Bush Warrior getting the upper hand in the straight to get the judges nod.
