They say “when you’re hot your hot and when you’re not your not”.
Just at the moment no stable in Grafton is hotter when it comes to training winners than the John Shelton camp.
The new season is just a month old and Shelton has already racked up three winners including a feature on Taree Cup day and a winner on Casino cup day.
But there is none hotter in the stable than Tobasco which made it two on the bounce this season from as many starts with an all the way victory in the BM 58 1006m at Grafton on Monday.
Taken straight to the top by Ben Looker Tobasco was never in danger thereafter and ran the opposition off their legs.
Whilst it represents a big lift in grade Tobasco looks tailor made to have a crack at the “Lightning Bend” on Bowraville Cup Day.
Whilst Tobasco may not be “Lucky Meteor” which won the race for Shelton on 2014 he would be a long way in front when heads were turned for home and those chasing would know they did not have Randwick straight to catch him.
To coin another old saying “Only Time Will Tell”.
